- Admissions are only available via the online application system. Paper applications will not be accepted, nor will overdue applications be accepted.
- No application fee is required. Each applicant can apply to up to 3 programs in the same application form.
- Applicants must provide the information and submit the documents required in the online application system and application brochure.
- Applicants will be notified via email if they submit incomplete/wrong information or documents. Late submissions after the deadline will not be considered.
The application requirements for overseas Chinese/Hong Kong/Macao students conform to the “Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan” and “Regulations for Hong Kong and Macao Residents Studying in Taiwan” issued by the Ministry of Education.
1. Definitions of overseas Chinese students, Hong Kong/Macao students, and Chinese students with foreign nationality in Hong Kong/Macao:
- Overseas Chinese students: Chinese students born in an overseas country, and have taken up continuous residence to this day, or recent continuous residence for over six consecutive years, in an overseas country and in possession of a long-term or permanent residence permit in the country. The term “overseas” here refers to countries or regions other than Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao.
- Hong Kong/Macao students: Residents of Hong Kong or Macao in possession of a permanent residence permit in Hong Kong or Macao who have taken up continuous residence outside Taiwan for over six consecutive years and meet the requirements listed in Article 4 of the “Laws and Regulations Regarding Hong Kong & Macao Affairs”.
- Chinese students with foreign nationality in Hong Kong/Macao: Chinese students with foreign nationality and a permanent residence permit in Hong Kong or Macao, who have never had a household registration in Taiwan and have taken up continuous residence in Hong Kong, Macao, or overseas for over six consecutive years. The students’ study and counseling affairs must conform to the “Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan” before the amendment and implementation of relevant legal regulations.
* Note 1. The overseas Chinese students and Hong Kong/Macao students are eligible for admission are those who come to Taiwan from overseas in the academic year (not including those who attended high school in Taiwan, studied one year at a Taiwanese university but did not graduate, graduated from an unincorporated Chinese secondary school in Myanmar or Northern Thailand, or graduated from National Taiwan Normal University Division of Preparatory Programs for Overseas Chinese Students).
* Note 2. The term “continuous residence” mentioned above entails the condition that the student did not reside in Taiwan for over 120 days in each calendar year (from January 1 to December 31), which would then be considered as an interrupted residence. The period taken into account is six years before the aforementioned application deadline date. However, the students whose continuous residence meets the aforementioned requirement after August 31, 2023are eligible to apply.
* Note 3. For information on continuous residence and exclusion regulations, overseas Chinese students and Hong Kong/Macao students may refer to Articles 3 & 4 of the “Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan” and Articles 3 & 4 of the “Regulations for Hong Kong and Macao Residents Studying in Taiwan”, respectively. The students must also submit the required documents concerning their residence for review during application.
* Note 4. Part of the applicants’ personal data will be transferred by the university to the University Entrance Committee For Overseas Chinese Students, the Ministry of Education, the National Immigration Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, and the Overseas Community Affairs Council for the review of travel records as well as identity verification performed by the Ministry of Education, the University Entrance Committee For Overseas Chinese Students, and the Overseas Community Affairs Council.
* Note 5. The overseas Chinese students and the Hong Kong/Macao students are not allowed to change their identity on their own during their study in Taiwan unless otherwise specified by law. If the student owns the dual identity of a foreign student and an overseas Chinese student, he or she must select one of the identities to be admitted to the university and cannot change the selected identity once his or her application is submitted.
- Applicants for the undergraduate program must hold a degree equivalent to or higher than that from a high school in Taiwan, while applicants for the master’s program must hold an undergraduate degree.
- Applicants who graduated from a university/institution with academic credentials need to be recognized by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan as listed on the Department of International and Cross-Strait Education website.
- All diplomas and degrees from high schools and universities must be verified by an overseas mission of Taiwan or a recommendation unit designated by the Overseas Community Affairs Council.
- Applicants who receive a diploma from a foreign country, Hong Kong, Macao, or Mainland China must meet the requirements listed in Article 9 of the “Standards for Recognition of Equivalent Educational Levels for University Admission” issued by the Ministry of Education. Applicants who graduate at a level equivalent to Grade 11 in Taiwan overseas or in Hong Kong/Macao are required to earn another 12 additional credits at Yuan Ze University to graduate.
3. Students under any of the following circumstances cannot apply for admission in Taiwan. Applicants who violate such rules will be disqualified from admission. Students who violate such rules but are already admitted to the university will be expelled.
- The student studied in/graduated from a high school in Taiwan.
- The student owns a forged/altered/false certificate/passport.
- The student had applied for an already granted annulment of R.O.C. nationality and has yet to acquire nationality from another country.
- The student is considered ineligible for admission by the Overseas Affairs authority or the Ministry of Education after being admitted to the university.
- The student enrolled took a temporary leave from, was involuntarily suspended (e.g. expelled) from, or applied to retain enrollment eligibility in a university in Taiwan (including National Taiwan Normal University Division of Preparatory Programs for Overseas Chinese Students), and therefore is disqualified for re-admission.
Applicants must upload the following materials to the online application system in accordance with the regulations:
1. Certificate of Identity:
- For overseas Chinese students: Applicants must hold a permanent or long-term residence permit in the country of residence (e.g. identity card/passport issued by the country of residence or a R.O.C. passport with an Overseas Compatriot Identity Endorsement).
- For Hong Kong/Macao students: Applicants must hold a Hong Kong/Macao passport, a permanent residence permit (e.g. identity card issued by the country of residence), and copies of the original certification of continuous residence overseas (e.g. travel records certification; however, applicants who do not hold such a certification do not have to submit such a document). Applicants born in Mainland China must submit a copy of their “Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents” (i.e. Home Return Permit).
- For Chinese students with foreign nationality in Hong Kong/Macao: Applicants must hold a Hong Kong/Macao passport, a permanent residence permit, and a foreign country passport. Applicants born in Mainland China must submit a copy of their “Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents” (i.e. Home Return Permit).
2. Certificate of Education Such as a Diploma/Certificate of Enrollment:
- The diploma, certificate of enrollment, and other academic documents submitted at the time of application (documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by a Chinese or English translation) must be verified by an overseas mission of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) or by a sponsoring organization designated by the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC).
- Graduating students must submit a certificate of current enrollment for the current semester. However, they must obtain their official diploma before enrollment. The diploma must be translated into Chinese (English documents are exempt from translation) and verified by an overseas mission of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) or by a sponsoring organization designated by the OCAC for review by the university. Failure to comply will result in disqualification from applying, and those already admitted will have their admission and enrollment revoked.
- Graduates must submit a diploma that has been verified by an overseas mission of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) or a sponsoring organization designated by the OCAC. Applicants for undergraduate programs must submit their high school diploma; applicants for master's programs must submit their university diploma.
- Academic credentials from foreign schools with campuses or branches located in Mainland China must be verified by a notary office in Mainland China and authenticated by an organization established or designated by the Executive Yuan, or by an authorized private entity.
3. Academic Transcript:
- The academic transcript submitted at the time of application (documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by a Chinese or English translation) must be verified by an overseas mission of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) or by a sponsoring organization designated by the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC). However, academic credentials from foreign schools with campuses or branches located in Mainland China must be notarized by a notary office in Mainland China and authenticated by an organization established or designated by the Executive Yuan, or by an authorized private entity.
- Graduates of the current year must submit copies of the transcripts and ranking certificates of Grade 10 & 11.
- Graduates of Grade 12 must submit copies of the transcripts and ranking certificates from Grade 10 to 12.
- Graduates of Grade 11 must submit copies of the transcripts and ranking certificates of Grade 10 & 11.
- Applicants to the master’s programs must submit a copy of the transcript of their undergraduate studies.
4. Language Proficiency Certification:
- Applicants to key industry programs must provide relevant language proficiency certificates:
- For undergraduate programs in key industries: Applicants must submit an English language proficiency test certificate at CEFR B1 level or above. Applicants who hold citizenship from an English-speaking country (please upload passport) or who have obtained their previous degree from an English-speaking country (please upload degree certificate) are exempt from submitting English language proficiency certificates.
- For master's programs in key industries:
◆Applicants to Chinese-taught programs must provide a Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) certificate demonstrating proficiency at Level 2 or above.
◆Applicants to English-taught programs must submit an English language proficiency test certificate at CEFR B1 level or above. Applicants who hold citizenship from an English-speaking country (please upload passport) or who have obtained their previous degree from an English-speaking country (please upload degree certificate) are exempt from submitting English language proficiency certificates. - List of Key Industry Programs:

Each applicant must submit a 2x2-inch headshot taken within the last 6 months and show a full front view of the face without wearing a hat.
6. Affidavit of Identity and Education:
Applicants are required to complete, scan, and then upload the affidavit in Appendix 1 in PDF format.

9. Autobiography:
Applicants who submit different versions of personal statements to apply to different programs must specify the name of each program and combine the personal statements into one file for upload.
10. Motivation (required for application to master’s programs): Including the study plan.

12. Other Supporting Documents:
Proof of achievement of specialized works (or special performances), other relevant licenses, and certifications. Please attach English certificates if you are applying for English Program.
* Note 1. If the aforementioned documents, such as the diploma, certificate of enrollment, and academic transcript, are in languages other than Chinese or English, the applicants must submit a Chinese or English version of the documents. The transcript must be an official document from the school and stamped by the school’s Academic Affairs Office.
* Note 2. Applicants must submit an electronic file of the diploma, certificate of enrollment, and transcript. Once admitted to and registered at the university in Taiwan, the applicants must submit the original copy of these documents (and have them translated into Chinese if they are in languages other than Chinese or English), which must be verified by the overseas mission of Taiwan or a recommendation unit designated by the Overseas Community Affairs Council, for the university’s review. Applicants who do not provide the aforementioned documents will be disqualified for admission; if they are already admitted to the university, their admission will be revoked.
* Note 3. Late applications after the deadline or applications that provide incomplete information will not be considered. Applicants cannot apply to submit late documents unless they are informed by YZU to do so.

All overseas Chinese students (including students from Hong Kong and Macau) from regions other than the Malaysia Spring Class of the Preparatory Program for Overseas Chinese Students at National Taiwan Normal University are eligible to apply.
- First Batch(s1): Malaysia (Chinese Independent High School Unified Examination Certificate).
- Second Batch(s2): General Regions (Europe, Americas, Africa, Oceania, and other exempted regions).
- Third Batch(s3): Overseas Tests (Japan, Korea, Singapore, Northern Thailand, Myanmar, Overseas Taiwanese High School Graduates, and Macau).
- Fourth Batch(s4): Graduates of the Overseas Chinese Preparatory Division, National Taiwan Normal University.
- FIftth Batch(s5): Graduates of Indonesian Preparatory Classes, Hong Kong (DSE/CEE/ALE), Malaysia (STPM / A-LEVEL / O-LEVEL / SPM).
