Taiwan is home to many mountains, among them is the holy 大霸尖山(Mount Sylvania/Dabajian).
The hike is treacherous, and it requires a strong body and mind to master. After a long 20km mountain road, the trailhead starts and continues to above 3500-meter altitude. During the winter months, snow and ice make this a dangerous hike. The nights in the unheated cabins are freezing. But the view is worth the effort. As 大霸尖山 is like many hard-to-reach places, something very special.
The hike of a lifetime by Chris, GMBA student from Germany.
