YZU Study Abroad Scholarship

▋Eligibility

  1. Students who hold the nationality of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

  2. Outstanding students recommended by various colleges and administrative units.
    (Applicable to International Students, Overseas Chinese Students, and Mainland China Students)

▋Application Procedure

  1. There are three kinds of application forms (available in the "Regulations and Documents" section below).
    If you do not know which application form to fill out, please ask your department secretary or coordinator at the Global Affairs Office.

  2. As specified in the application form, the application form should be filled out by the handling teacher/department secretary and the student. It should be sent to the Global Affairs Office after being reviewed by the department.

  3. Global Affairs Office will list the subsidy amount after reviewing the scholarship application based on the "Regulations of Study Abroad Scholarship".

  4. Students and teachers should take extra precautions to keep the original boarding passes (round-trip) and Certificate of Completion as it is a required document for scholarship reimbursement.

  5. Within 14 days of returning to R.O.C (Taiwan), submit the following documents to the exchange program coordinator of your department (department-level group exchange programs) or directly to the Global Affairs Office exchange coordinator (school-level/ individual exchange programs)
    1) Round-trip boarding passes (original)
    2) Flight Itinerary/ E-ticket (photocopy)
    3) Certificate of Completion (photocopy)
    4) Report (in the same format as the application form)


▋ Regulations and Documents

2024 YZU Study Abroad Scholarship Distribution Standards

(Listed here is the maximum amount that can be approved for each case/student, the actual amount may vary depending on the budget.)

According to the Regulations of YZU Study Abroad Scholarship


A. Summer/ Winter School

  1. Excluding travel days and personal time, there should be a minimum of 14 days of actual academic exchange and visit activities.

  2. Students must attend classes at the host institution.

  3. For each group with ten or more students, one teacher may apply for an accompanying teacher subsidy capped at 50,000 in Asia and 100,000 elsewhere (the university is responsible for any funding shortfall).

  4. Regulations for accompanying teachers
    The accompanying teachers are recommended to depart and return to Taiwan with the student group.
    Encourage teachers to teach jointly with the partner institution during the exchange.
    Basic responsibilities include taking care of students' daily lives and engaging in academic exchange with the host institution.
    If the teacher is not accompanying the students on the entire trip, please provide local emergency contact information to the host institution and the students. 

B. Short-term exchanges

  1. Excluding travel days and personal time, there should be a minimum of 14 days of actual academic exchange and visit activities within a 14-day period.

  2. Academic exchange visits should account for over half of the total itinerary.

  3. Those attending international conferences to present papers or students for whom the host institution provides on-the-ground support are not eligible for this subsidy.

C. Overseas internships

  1. Three types of subsidy principles:
    This scholarship is not available to those who have received a subsidy from the MOE Study Abroad Scholarships.

    This scholarship is available to those who applied formally for the MOE Study Abroad Scholarships but did not receive a subsidy.
    Students who have not applied for the MOE Study Abroad Scholarships may receive up to 40% of the scholarship.

2. An overseas internship program should last at least 8 weeks and consist of 320 hours.

3. Paid internships are not eligible for this subsidy.
