YZU Scholarships for International Students

According to Regulations Governing Scholarship Implementation for International Students (Revised 2023)

▋ Scholarship Rewards:

  1. 100% waiver of tuition, miscellaneous fees, credit fees, computer and internet fees, and sport facility fees.
  2. 50% waiver of tuition, miscellaneous fees, credit fees, computer and internet fees, and sport facility fees.
  3. 20% waiver of tuition, miscellaneous fees, credit fees, computer and internet fees, and sport facility fees.
  4. Stipend.


▋Application Requirements:

  1. Incoming new students:
    Individual applicants who have completed the registration process in the first semester may be granted scholarships as set out in Item 1, or including Item 4, Subparagraph 1 of this Article.

  2. Present students:
  • Undergraduate students who have completed one semester of study and have taken the minimum number of credits per semester required by the University, with a conduct score of 80 or higher and an average academic grade of 65 or higher in the previous semester, and:
    (1) who ranks in the top 15 percent of the department or unit of the same level may be awarded scholarships as described in Item 1, or including Item 4, Subparagraph 1 of this Article.
    (2) who ranks in the top 30 percent of the department or unit of the same level may be awarded scholarships as described in Item 2, or including Item 4, Subparagraph 1 of this Article.
    (3) who ranks in the top 50 percent of the department or unit of the same level may be awarded scholarships as described in Item 3, or including Item 4, Subparagraph 1 of this Article.
  • Students in a Master's program who have completed one semester of study, have taken at least six credits in each semester, have a conduct grade of 80 or higher, had an average academic grade of 75 or higher in the previous semester, and:
    (1) who ranks in the top 40 percent of the department or unit of the same level may be awarded scholarships as described in Item 1, or including Item 4, Subparagraph 1 of this Article;
    (2) who ranks in the top 60 percent of the department or unit of the same level may be awarded scholarships as described in Item 2, or including Item 4, Subparagraph 1 of this Article;
    (3) who ranks in the top 70 percent of the department or unit of the same level may be awarded scholarships as described in Item 3, or including Item 4, Subparagraph 1 of this Article.
  • Students in a Ph.D. program who have completed one semester of study, have taken at least six credits in each semester, and have a conduct grade of 80 or higher may be awarded scholarships as described in Item 1, or including Item 4, Subparagraph 1 of this Article.
  • Students in the Master's and Ph.D. programs who do not meet the six-credit requirement during the dissertation writing period may apply with a recommendation letter from their advisor and a dissertation writing plan.
  • Those who do not meet the above criteria may apply on the recommendation of the department.
  1. Eligibility review of stipend for current Ph.D. students:(For Ph.D students enrolled in/from 2021 Spring semester,)
  • PhD students are reviewed 2 years after admission and pass the University-wide basic threshold to be eligible to apply.
  • The basic threshold is 2 points for PhD students, and each college may raise the standard of review according to the nature of the discipline.
  • Point counting principles
    (1) 4 points for papers in major journals: SCI, SSCI, AHCI, TSSCI and THCI science and technology section categories 1-2, etc.
    (2) 3 points for papers in other journals
    (3) 2 points for international conference papers
    (4) 1 point for domestic conference papers
  1. Eligibility review of stipend for current Ph.D. students:(For Ph.D students enrolled in/from 2023 fall semester,)
  • The basic threshold for qualification review for second-year PhD candidates advancing to third-year PhD is four points for paper publication. The review standard may be increased by colleges based on the nature of the field.
  • The basic threshold for qualification review for third-year PhD candidates advancing to fourth-year PhD must accumulate 8 points for paper publication. The four newly added points should come from high-impact factor journals where the PhD student is the first author or has joint authorship with their advisor. The review standard may be increased by colleges based on the nature of the field.
  • Point Calculation Principles
    (1) Each publication as a first or second authorship in SCI, SSCI, A&HCI, TSSCI, or THCI will receive four points.
    (2) Each Scopus journal or conference paper will receive two points.

YZU Scholarships for Overseas Chinese Student

According to Regulations of Scholarships for Overseas Chinese Student 

▋ Scholarship Rewards:

  1. 100% waiver of tuition, miscellaneous fees, credit fees, computer and internet fees, and sport facility fees.
  2. 50% waiver of tuition, miscellaneous fees, credit fees, computer and internet fees, and sport facility fees.
  3. 20% waiver of tuition, miscellaneous fees, credit fees, computer and internet fees, and sport facility fees.
  4. Stipend. 


▋Application Requirements:

  1. Incoming new students:

    (3)    who ranks in the top 70 percent of the department or unit of the same level may be awarded scholarships as described in Item 3, or including Item 4 of Paragraph 1 of this Article.

  • Students in a Ph.D. program who have completed one semester of study, have taken at least six credits in each semester, and have a conduct grade of 80 or higher may be awarded scholarships as described in Item 1, or including Item 4 of Paragraph 1 of this Article.

Chinese Proficiency Testing Scholarship for International Students

▋Qualification:

  1. International degree-seeking students who take the TOCFL examination and meet the subsidy criteria before their senior year of undergraduate studies, the first year of master's studies, or the second year of doctoral studies.
  2. The issuance date of the score certificate must be within one year prior to the application date.
  3. Each student is eligible to receive the subsidy once during their enrollment at the university.

▋The maximum amount of the reward for the TOCFL examination

A2 Basic Level NTD 1,000
B1 Intermediate Level NTD 1,500
B2 Advanced Level NTD 2,000
C1 Proficiency Level NTD 2,500
C2 Mastery Level NTD 3,000

Governments and Other Scholarships

Requirements:

  1. Nationalities from countries not covered by the MOFA Taiwan Scholarship
  2. International students must be foreign nationals with a secondary school graduation diploma or a post-secondary degree(s), have shown excellent academic performance, and are of good moral character. (Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao SAE students are not eligible).


Applicable Degree and Duration:

Bachelor 4 years, Master 2 years, Ph.D. 4 years

Grants of Scholarship: 
Bachelor: Tuition waiver up to NTD 40,000 + Monthly stipend NTD 15,000/month
Master and Ph.D.: Tuition waiver up to NTD 40,000 + Monthly stipend NTD 20,000/month

*MOE will pay up to NTD 40,000 each semester for each recipient's approved tuition and miscellaneous expenses. MOE regulations state that the remaining amount should be paid to the university by the students, but if you choose YZU, you won't have to pay us the remaining amount, but you will have to pay the insurance fee and the dormitory fee (if applicable).
