This evening (November 14), 22 scholarship students from the Indonesian government’s IISMA exchange program hosted a lively event at Yuan Ze University titled "Laras Swara Warna Nusantara" (translated as "The Islands’ Vibrant Voices"). Through this event, the students showcased Indonesia's rich and diverse cultural heritage to the university’s faculty and students, bringing a vibrant Indonesian atmosphere to campus and offering participants a chance to deeply engage with the cultural fusion of Indonesia.
The event featured various cultural performances and interactive activities, including Angklung (a traditional Indonesian musical instrument) performances, Batik demonstrations and hands-on experiences, a photo booth, and traditional Indonesian dance performances. Additionally, an Indonesian film night was arranged to allow participants to further understand Indonesian stories and cultural backgrounds through cinema. To foster interest in Indonesian culture, interactive quiz games were held on-site, with exquisite souvenirs given to participants.
Dien Giau Bui (Richard), Dirctor of the Global Affairs Office, International Exchange Division, noted that Yuan Ze University had been a partner university in the IISMA (Indonesia International Student Mobility Awards) exchange program organized by Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for three consecutive years. This semester, the 22 IISMA students are enrolled in the English Bachelor’s programs within the College of Management and the College of Informatics. These scholarship students have demonstrated outstanding performance in academics, attitude, and demeanor, making them excellent cultural ambassadors for Indonesia. Yuan Ze University is also progressing towards becoming a Muslim-friendly campus by implementing initiatives such as setting up a prayer room and marking pork-free items on the cafeteria menu.
Fauzan Mupti Pratama, event organizer and student from the English Bachelor’s Program at the College of Management expressed hope that the event would attract not only Indonesian students but also local Taiwanese and other international students at Yuan Ze University, thereby becoming a bridge for cultural integration. Through shared participation and interaction, he hopes this event will foster lasting friendships, deepen intercultural understanding, and create unforgettable memories for all involved in "Laras Swara Warna Nusantara."
