Recently, the Office of Global Affairs hosted an out-going exchange information session to address students' intractable problems. 【by Mr. Huang】
It is recommended that students who are considering applying for international exchange prepare their study plans before applying. They should also research the host exchange school's website, and communicate with their parents to avoid information inequalities. Additionally, English tests (TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS...) must be prepared as soon as possible.
Upon passing the preliminary examination, applicants should provide proof of English proficiency, an English autobiography, an English resume, and a letter of recommendation from a professor.
A completed online application form must be submitted prior to the review process. In addition to the basic information on the application form, ranking percentages, results of the English exam, and preferred order of host institution are also essential. Since there are limited places per host institution, YZU will review and screen applications based on the preferred order of the host institution (50% YZU school ranking + 50% English proficiency test).
In the case that the candidate passes the review and is nominated, he or she must submit relevant materials to YZU in order to be considered for an outgoing exchange. Male students should pay special attention to the Regulations for Review Procedures Regarding Departures by Male Nationals Approaching Military Service Age in addition to the application materials required by the host institution.
Original boarding pass, receipt, experience report, presentation, video, etc. must be submitted after returning to Taiwan.
At the end of the lecture, the lecturer selected a few questions that students frequently asked.
Q: When you want to exchange, what kind of English test should you take, and how many points should you get?"
A: Each host institution has its own rules. Please refer to the "minimum English score" in the latest "exchange school information" and provide the corresponding results.
Q: What is the process for recognizing credits given by the host institution?
A: Although YZU specifies the minimum number of credit hours for outgoing exchange, credit recognition must be discussed with each department.
Q: Is it possible to take electives from other departments?
A: Some schools allow it, while others do not. It needs to be evaluated before applying.
Students who received priority are also reminded that there is no guarantee that the host institution will pass the review as well. It's advisable not to celebrate too early until the results are in.
