Human-Computer Interaction and Multimedia
- 3D Lighting and Material Rendering: Computer rendering of images and animations allows for a more realistic and detailed computer image by using information captured from the real world to create special graphics effects such as the rendering of objects' materials and various 3D lighting phenomena. At the same time, we develop ways to more efficiently analyze and compress stored graphic data to achieve faster rendering during execution. Furthermore, we are able to achieve realistic results on top of real-time computing.
- 3D modeling and geometric surface processing: Traditional model building is complex and laborious. To efficiently create 3D digital models, we have developed a series of geometric processing methods to help model builders improve their production efficiency. By blending multiple models, new models can be constructed that correspond to existing models. This allows model builders to create new models more quickly for use in games, computer animations, and industrial design by reusing previously created 3D models, textures, and computer animations.
- Digital image processing: Digital image processing has many applications in everyday life, and image post-processing is commonly used for a variety of purposes. With minimal visible distortion, we have developed a technique for converting input photos and videos into any aspect ratio with minimal visible distortion. We have also developed a technique for converting stereo camera footage into stereo panoramic images in response to popular 360 and stereo photography technologies.
- Virtual reality and human-computer interaction applications: Using a virtual keyboard, a new type of assistive typing interface has been developed, which successfully reduces hand fatigue during long-term usage in virtual reality. We have also developed a virtual reality system that assists professional occupational therapists in teaching children with developmental disorders, successfully integrating information technology with special education expertise, reducing the burden on related professionals, and improving teaching quality.
