During the long QingMing festival weekend, My friend and I visited the Shimen Reservoir and Daxi old street which is about 1-hour drive from YZU
Shimen Reservior is a scenic spot in Taoyuan. It is an iconic landmark and an important water reservoir in Taoyuan. The main attraction is the reservoir itself with mountains surrounding it, you can take a boat ride in the upper lake as well. There is a beautiful park with bicycles and hiking trails, perfect to spend time with family and friends. The tourist attractions in the park include the dam, spillway, lake wharf, Xizhou Park, Maple Forest Park, Nanyuan Ecological Park, etc. I have heard that during the spring season, cherry blossoms, and rhododendrons fill the entire place and the view is even more spectacular. During the rainy season, when the dam discharges the flood, the scene is spectacular, which attracts a lot of tourists.
Daxi Old Street, is a famous old street in Taiwan due to the Japanese colonial architecture design along the street. It is an amazing place for street food, especially the peanut mocha and shaved ice cream. Other must-eat traditional delicacies include bean curd, peanut brittle, & rice cake
