Yuan Ze University Wins QS “Global Engagement–Performance Improvement Award"

Seoul, November 4, 2025 — At the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia 2025, held in Seoul, South Korea from November 4 to 6, Yuan Ze University (YZU) received the “Global Engagement – Performance Improvement Award” from Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the renowned UK-based higher education evaluation organization. Vice President Dr. Tze-Chi Hsu accepted the award on behalf of the university, marking a significant milestone in YZU’s ongoing pursuit of global excellence in higher education.

Since its founding, Yuan Ze University has been deeply committed to campus internationalization, aiming to become a bilingual university and foster a globally competitive learning environment. The university has established Overseas Cooperation Centers in Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia, actively advancing international recruitment efforts. As a result, the number of international students has grown significantly in recent years. Currently, 12.87% of YZU’s student body hails from 67 countries worldwide, creating a vibrant and multicultural academic community.

YZU also promotes English-taught courses, cross-cultural programs, and student support services to build an inclusive and welcoming environment that encourages interaction between local and international students. In particular, YZU has created a Muslim-friendly campus, featuring dedicated prayer rooms, perform wudu, and clear halal labeling in campus dining venues—ensuring a respectful and comfortable environment for Muslim faculty and students. Notably, the university will host the first Taoyuan International Student Festival on November 15, further showcasing its achievements in fostering cultural exchange and an international learning atmosphere.

YZU also promotes the “1,000 Students Abroad Initiative”, supporting students in exchange programs, dual-degree opportunities, and short-term overseas study. To enhance administrative accessibility for international faculty and students, the university has implemented bilingual information systems, email platforms, administrative forms, and regulations, reinforcing its reputation as an internationally friendly campus.

YZU has also made substantial progress in international faculty recruitment and administrative globalization, with over 10% of faculty members being international hires, placing it among Taiwan’s leading universities in this regard. To attract top global talent and strengthen research capacity, the university established the International Graduate Scholarship Program, funded by its Board of Trustees. Over the past four years, this initiative has provided more than NT$64 million in living stipends to international graduate students.

In addition, YZU’s “Thousand Students Abroad Program” supports student participation in exchange programs, dual-degree studies, and short-term overseas learning experiences, empowering students to broaden their global perspectives. The university has also implemented bilingual systems across its IT platforms, email, administrative policies, and forms—enhancing international friendliness and ensuring smoother services for overseas students and faculty.

In terms of global academic and industry collaboration, Yuan Ze University has partnered with SASTRA University, the TATA Group, and Delta Electronics India to jointly cultivate globally competent professionals through industry-oriented master’s programs—establishing a new model for Taiwan-India cooperation. YZU has also launched innovative professional master’s programs in partnership with leading Taiwanese PCB manufacturers, automation firms, and accounting firms, helping international graduates secure employment in Taiwan and contributing global talent to local industries.

President Ching-Jung Liao stated that Yuan Ze University strives to become Taiwan’s most internationalized university. Receiving the QS “Global Engagement – Performance Improvement Award” affirms the university’s sustained efforts in global engagement and marks a key milestone in its internationalization journey. He emphasized that this honor reflects the collective dedication of the entire YZU community and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to strengthening global connections, expanding international recruitment and partnerships, and nurturing professionals with both global vision and local impact.
