A delegation of Indonesian principals visits Yuan Ze University

The Indonesian North Sumatra Alumni Association and 17 principals and education supervisors from Indonesian overseas schools at the primary and secondary levels visited Yuan Ze University on March 30th for a half-day visit. They were received by President Liao Ching-Jung of Yuan Ze University, Liang Yun-Chia, Chief of the Global Affairs Office, and Le Ting, Deputy Director of the Global Affairs Office.

Liang Yun-Chia, Chief of the Global Affairs Office, stated that according to statistics from the Ministry of Education on overseas students, there were nearly 16,500 Indonesian students studying in Taiwan in the 110th academic year. Among the international students at Yuan Ze University, nearly 10% are Indonesian students, making Indonesia the third largest country in terms of the proportion of students from foreign countries. In the past, most Indonesian students applied as foreign students. However, in recent years, a small number of Indonesian students have been admitted as overseas Chinese students. Through the mutual exchange, Yuan Ze University hopes to attract students from various regions of Indonesia and different backgrounds.

The visiting delegation was addressed by Dodi Wijaya, President of the Indonesian North Sumatra Alumni Association. Although it was their first visit to Yuan Ze University, they were already familiar with Yuan Ze's excellent reputation in education and research. They hoped that through this exchange, more Indonesian overseas students would become acquainted with Yuan Ze University and have more choices in higher education. President Liao Ching-Jung of Yuan Ze University expressed that the university recently celebrated its 34th anniversary and has demonstrated excellence in fields such as engineering, information technology, management, and the humanities. The alumni have also excelled, consistently ranking among the top private universities in Taiwan in various professional surveys regarding salary and employer preference, competing alongside prestigious national universities.

After the comprehensive exchange, the visiting delegation visited various distinctive classrooms and laboratories, including the Aquaponics Lab in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, the Multi-Domain Human-Machine Interaction Demo Lab in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, the Robotics Lab in the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Anti-Reflection Lab, the Optoelectronic Semiconductor Thin Film and Device Characterization Lab, and the Maker Base in the Department of Art and Design.

The main purpose of this visit was to understand Yuan Ze University's teaching philosophy and educational technological innovations. During the visit, the delegation gained in-depth knowledge of the unique classrooms and laboratories in various departments. While visiting the Aquaponics Lab in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, the distinguished guest, Honorary President Matseh Kosasih of the Indonesian North Sumatra Alumni Association, expressed a strong desire to bring Indonesian students and Yuan Ze students and departments together for summer camp workshops if there is an opportunity.

Yuan Ze University has been committed to promoting international educational exchanges and establishing extensive cooperative relationships with academic institutions worldwide. The visit by the Indonesian principals' delegation further strengthens Yuan Ze University's international influence and status. It also establishes a closer cooperative relationship between Yuan Ze University and the Indonesian education sector, bringing more opportunities and challenges.
